Getting good answers from the assistant

How to phrase questions to the Flyte assistant so you get clear, accurate steps, with examples of good questions for common tasks.

2 min read

The Flyte assistant answers best when it knows what you're trying to do. A few habits make the difference between a vague answer and exactly the steps you need.

#Say what you're trying to achieve

Describe the goal, not the button.

Instead of Try
"Confirm button" "How do I confirm an order the customer has already confirmed?"
"Emails" "Who receives the order confirmed email?"
"Sizes broken" "A customer can't order XL on a product. What should I check?"

#Describe what you see

If something isn't working, say what the screen says, word for word if you can, and where you are.

  • "On a PO, the factory can't see it in their portal. The status is Draft."
  • "When I try to confirm, it says a delivery date is required."
  • "The customer says their link shows 'This link is invalid or has expired'."

The assistant can't see your screen or your data, so the words on the screen are its best clue.

#Ask about one thing at a time

Each message stands on its own. If you have three questions, you'll get clearer answers asking them one after another than all at once.

#Ask for the level of detail you want

Most answers are kept short. If you want more, say so:

  • "Give me the full walkthrough."
  • "Explain why it works that way."
  • "Just the steps, please."

#Ask who is affected

Useful before you press something that emails people:

  • "If I press Ship now, who gets emailed?"
  • "What does the customer see when I switch on prices on the customer link?"
  • "Does the factory see this note?"

#Questions it answers well

  • "Walk me through setting up a new customer so they can log in."
  • "Why does the customer have to confirm an order they placed themselves?"
  • "What's the difference between a size group and a size chart?"
  • "What does Awaiting Shipping Instructions mean?"
  • "Draft a polite message to a customer asking them to confirm their order."

#When it isn't sure

If the guides don't cover your question, the assistant says so rather than guessing. That's the moment to press Send to a human. See Sending a conversation to a human.

Tip

For anything about a specific order or customer, ask the assistant how to find the answer. It will tell you which page to open and what to look for.
