Tracking numbers and carriers
Set up carrier tracking links so tracking numbers become clickable for your team and your customers.
When you record a tracking number on a shipment, Flyte can turn it into a link to the carrier's tracking page. Your team sees the link on Freight and orders, and your customers see it on their order and in their emails.
#Adding tracking to a shipment
- Open the shipment and find Carrier & tracking.
- Choose the Carrier and Freight type, and enter the Tracking number.
- Press Save details.
The number then shows with Copy and Track ↗. These details freeze once the shipment is closed, and closing it copies the carrier and tracking onto the orders.
#Setting up carrier tracking links
Go to Settings → Shipping & freight → Carriers. Each carrier has a Tracking URL.
- Put {tracking} where the tracking number belongs, for example
https://carrier.example/track?number={tracking}. - The URL must start with https://.
- If the URL has no {tracking}, the number is added to the end.
- Common carriers come pre-filled, marked Default.
- Clear a carrier's URL if you do not want a link for it.
With no template, the tracking number shows as plain text with a copy button.
#What the customer sees
Customers see each shipment's tracking link in their order's Freight & delivery card and in the emails they receive about it.
#Two journeys, two tracking numbers
Freight tracking covers the international leg from the factory to your warehouse. Local delivery from your warehouse to the customer is a separate leg. If your account has a dispatch integration switched on, local courier tracking is recorded as each part of the order goes out, and the customer is emailed for each one.
#Common questions
The tracking number is not a link. Set the carrier's Tracking URL in Settings → Shipping & freight → Carriers.
The link goes to the wrong page. Check where {tracking} sits in the carrier's URL.
Can I change tracking after closing a shipment? Reopen shipment first; carrier and tracking freeze on close.
