Adding products to a visual
Add base or custom products to a visual job, give them product codes, and attach the renders, logos, names and detailings the customer will approve.
Each product on a visual job is approved by the customer on its own, so each one needs its own details and artwork. This article covers building them up on the Products tab of the job.
#Add a product
- Open the job and go to the Products tab.
- Press Add product.
- Search the base catalogue and pick a product, or press Add custom product for something not in the catalogue.
- Choose the Size group, and enter a variation code and description.
- Press Add to Job.
#Give products their codes
Above the products, Apply Product Code sets the codes in one go. Choose the sub-group, variation code and description, then press Apply Code.
Codes follow the pattern style – customer prefix – sub-group – variation. If two products would end up with the same code, Flyte adds A, B, C to tell them apart. Descriptions are rebuilt automatically unless someone has edited one by hand; a hand-edited description is locked, and reset to auto releases it.
#What each product carries
Product details — style, fabric, technique and colours. The "+" beside colours offers the sub-group's saved colours. Notes for this product holds anything specific to it.
Logo details — press + Add Placement and pick from the sub group's saved logos. When this is on, every placement must be approved before the product can be ordered.
Add names / Add numbers — switch these on when the customer must supply a name or number for each garment. The customer then fills them in when they order.
Renders & files
- Front image and Back image — PNG or JPG, up to 20 MB each.
- Attachments (AI · PDF · EPS) — production artwork files.
Detailings — press + Add Detailings to add neck labels, neck tape, care labels or woven tabs. You can only pick from the customer's own detailings library. To make a new one, add it on the customer record first.
In Progress / ✓ Done — a toggle to show where the designer is up to. You mark products ✓ Done before sending.
Watch out
a product with no front or back image cannot be ticked for sending. Upload at least one render before you send.
#Locked products
Products that are approved or already ordered are locked and greyed out, so an approved design cannot be changed by accident. Products already made permanent show ✓ In DB. To change a locked product, change it on the order or on the customer product instead.
#Making products permanent without an order
Sometimes a customer approves a design and wants it in their catalogue without ordering yet. Actions → Push products to DB turns visual products into permanent customer products:
- Press Push products to DB.
- Tick the products.
- Press Create Selected.
Any field you left blank is copied from the base product. If a customer product with the same code already exists, Flyte links to it rather than making a duplicate.
#Common questions
Why can't I create a detailing from here? Detailings are a standing library for each customer, so a label can never exist on one job and nowhere else. Add it on the customer record, then pick it here.
Can I add a logo the sub group hasn't saved? The placement picker offers the sub group's saved logos. Save the logo to that sub group's library first.
A product is greyed out and I need to fix it. It is approved or ordered. Make the change on the order or on the customer product.
