Linked and custom pricing on customer products

Choose whether a customer product follows its base product's prices or keeps its own, and how to switch between the two.

2 min read

A customer product can either follow its base product's prices or have its own. Linked pricing keeps a whole range consistent with one edit. Custom pricing lets you give one customer a special deal on one product.

#Linked pricing

When a customer product's pricing is linked, its Pricing tab shows PRICING LINKED TO BASE CATALOGUE with the note "This product inherits pricing from ". The base's tiers are shown read-only.

Saving new prices on the base updates every customer product linked to it.

Use linked pricing when the customer pays your standard prices for that garment.

#Custom pricing

Press Use Custom Pricing on the customer product's Pricing tab. Flyte copies the base's current pricing onto the product and makes it editable. The tab then shows "Using custom pricing."

From then on, changes to the base's pricing no longer reach this product.

Use custom pricing when one customer has agreed different prices, quantity breaks or markups.

#Switching back

Press Link to base pricing again to re-link the product. This replaces the product's own pricing with the base's.

Watch out

Re-linking discards the custom prices on that product. Make a note of them first if you might need them again.

#What is chosen when the product is made

When you create a customer product with + Customer variant, the Inherit pricing from base product box sets the starting point. Ticked means linked; unticked means custom.

#A safety net

If a custom-priced product ends up with no usable tiers (for example every price was cleared), Flyte falls back to the base's pricing rather than pricing it at nothing.

#Price on enquiry

If the base is set to Price on enquiry, customer products made from it inherit that, and a read-only note says so. The exception is a customer product that has been unlinked and has its own sell prices. See Price on enquiry.

#Common questions

I changed the base's prices. Why didn't a customer product change? It is on custom pricing. Press Link to base pricing again if it should follow the base.

Why can't I edit a customer product's prices? They are linked. Press Use Custom Pricing to give it its own.

Does linked pricing also link the markups? The product's markup choices use the owning customer's mark-up tiers if the customer has any, otherwise your defaults. See Mark-ups and exchange rates.
