Price on enquiry

Hide prices on products you quote job by job, and handle the price requests customers send instead.

2 min read

Some products are priced job by job: a custom design, a short run, or anything where the price depends on the details. Price on enquiry hides the price from customers and gives them a Request a price button instead.

#When you'd use it

  • The price varies too much for fixed tiers.
  • You want to talk to the customer before committing to a price.
  • You are showing a new range before prices are agreed.

#Switching it on

  1. Open the base product and go to Pricing.
  2. Switch Price on enquiry On.
  3. Save.

The tiers are hidden and are no longer needed. Press Show tiers to see them.

Good to know

The MOQ still applies, and any buy prices you have stored still feed purchase orders. Price on enquiry only changes what the customer sees.

Customer products made from that base inherit price on enquiry, and a read-only note says so. The exception is a customer product that has been unlinked and has its own sell prices.

#What the customer sees

Instead of a price, customers see "Price on enquiry" and a Request a price button. This applies in the catalogue, in the product window and, if your account has the online store switched on, in the web store, where the button reads Enquire instead of buy.

The product cannot go into a basket.

#When a customer requests a price

The request form asks for a quantity per size and a note. It arrives as a visual-job enquiry with a Price requested chip. On Visuals you can filter for these.

To answer it:

  1. Open the enquiry.
  2. Press Quote this. A quote starts with the product and quantities already filled in.
  3. Set the price and send the quote.

#Adding one to an order yourself

If you add a price-on-enquiry product to an order, the line reads Price on enquiry — enter price. The order will not save or confirm until you type a price.

#Common questions

A customer says they see "Price on enquiry" on a product that should have a price. The base has price on enquiry switched on. Either quote it, or switch it off on the base.

Does price on enquiry affect what I pay the factory? No. Buy prices and the factory are not affected.

Can I switch it on for one customer product only? It is switched on for a base product, and its customer products inherit it unless they have been unlinked and given their own sell prices.
