Product attributes and fabrics
Manage the lists behind styles, categories, techniques and colours, rename values everywhere at once, and keep each factory's fabric library.
The drop-down lists you choose from on a product, such as Style, Category and Technique, are managed in one place. So are each factory's fabrics. Keeping these lists tidy makes filtering, reporting and factory communication much easier.
#Product attributes
Go to Settings → Product attributes. The lists are:
| List | What it means |
|---|---|
| Style | The garment type: Hoodie, Polo, Tee. The factory sees it. |
| Category | The sport or department: Rugby, Netball, Off-field. The factory does not see it. |
| Technique | How it is decorated. |
| Colours | The colour treatment, not the garment colour. |
| Neckline & waist | Neck and waist finishes. |
| Gender | Who it is cut for. |
#Renaming a value everywhere
Click a value to rename it. A preview tells you how many products will change and notes "Placed orders and POs are not changed". Press Change N products to apply it.
#Codes and stock settings
On the same page:
- Codes: Default product code prefix and Purchase order prefix.
- Base product ranges: + Add range and Visible to. See Catalogue visibility, status and deleting.
- Stock products: Default tags for every new stock product, and the Stock product vendor that fills in Vendor.
#Importing lists
Import settings CSV, at the foot of the Settings menu, bulk-loads styles, techniques, colours, necklines and size groups.
Watch out
An import replaces the existing values in those lists. It does not add to them. It does not import products.
#Fabrics
Each factory has a fabric library. Products at that factory pick their fabrics from it.
#Adding a fabric to a factory
- Open Factories, open the factory, and go to Fabrics.
- Press Add fabric.
- Enter Code, Weight (for example 160gsm), Type, Composition and Uses. An image is optional.
- Save.
#Adding a fabric to a product
On the product's Details → Production, press Add a fabric and choose:
- From catalogue — a fabric from the product's factory's library, or
- Custom fabric — a one-off.
Then say what it is Used for.
#Editing a library fabric
Editing a fabric's code, weight or type updates every product using it. You see the number of products first.
Good to know
On a base product, changing the fabric does not reach customer products already made from it. Only customer products made afterwards pick up the new fabric.
#Common questions
Why doesn't the factory see Category? Category is for your own grouping (sport or department). The factory works from Style.
Why can't I see a fabric when adding it to a product? The list is limited to the product's factory's library. Check the product's Factory, or add the fabric to that factory.
I renamed a style. Did old POs change? No. Placed orders and POs are not changed.
