Size groups and size charts

Control which sizes a product can be ordered in with size groups, and record garment measurements with size charts. They are not the same thing.

3 min read

Flyte keeps two size-related things on a product, and mixing them up is the most common cause of "the order form shows the wrong sizes". The size group decides which sizes can be ordered. The size chart records measurements. Only the size group controls ordering.

#Size groups: what can be ordered

A size group is a name and an ordered list of sizes, for example XS-5XL containing XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL. The sizes appear on order forms, order screens and PO grids in the order you typed them.

You assign a size group on the product's Sizes tab. Customer products always use their base's size group.

#Creating a size group

  1. Go to Settings → Size groups & detailings → Size groups.
  2. Press + Add size group.
  3. Enter a name.
  4. Enter the sizes in the order they should display. A group can hold up to 12 sizes.
  5. Save.

#Editing or deleting a size group

🔒 Edit and × need the size group password. Ask your administrator for it. The password exists because these changes affect many products at once.

  • Renaming a group shows how many products will change, then updates them all.
  • Deleting a group leaves the products that used it unorderable until you assign them another group.

Watch out

Before deleting a size group, reassign the products using it. Otherwise they cannot be ordered.

#Uni and OSO

Two special groups are easy to confuse:

Group What it is for
Uni One size called Uni, for lines that are not garments: setup fees, design fees, rush fees, samples, woven labels and credits. It is the default for custom lines on purchase orders.
OSO ("One Size Only") A real garment that comes in one size, such as a cap. Assigned to real products.

Do not merge them. One is for money, the other is for garments.

#Size charts: measurements

The size chart is a measurements table, also on the Sizes tab. It has:

  • Unit (for example cm),
  • Size spec,
  • Pattern file,
  • the chart itself: press + Add measurement to add a row (up to 6 rows), such as chest width or body length. The columns are the size group's sizes.

Standard measurement row names are set in Settings → Size groups & detailings → Measurement types.

The factory sees the size chart on its purchase orders, and so do customers reviewing artwork.

Good to know

The size chart does not control which sizes can be ordered. If a customer is offered the wrong sizes, look at the size group, not the chart.

#On customer products

Sizes are read-only on a customer product. Press Open base to edit them on the base, which updates every customer product made from it.

#If your account has Garment Works switched on

A product with no valid size group (missing, empty, or naming a group Settings no longer has) shows a red "not registerable" badge on the Products list. It blocks submitting any purchase order it is on. Give the product, or its base, a size group defined in Settings.

#Common questions

The order form offers the wrong sizes. Check the product's Size group (on the base, for customer products) and that group's list in Settings.

The sizes appear in a strange order. Sizes display in the order typed in the size group. Edit the group to reorder them.

I renamed a size group. Did old orders change? Renaming updates the products that use it. Placed orders and POs are not changed.

Can I edit a size group without the password? No. Ask your administrator.
