Switching between English and Chinese
How to change the portal language, what the switch translates, and what it does not translate.
The factory portal works in English and in Chinese (中文). You can switch between them at any time. This article explains what changes when you switch, and what stays the same.
#How to switch
Use the language switch in the top bar. The whole portal changes between English and Chinese.
Your choice is remembered on that computer. If you sign in on a different computer or phone, you may need to switch again.
#What the switch changes
The switch changes the words that are part of the portal:
- buttons
- labels
- page names
- statuses (for example, Production or Ready to Ship)
#What the switch does not change
The switch does not translate what people typed. These stay in the language they were written in:
- notes
- product descriptions
- product names
- sizes
- codes
Good to know
Messages on a PO are different. If automatic translation is switched on for your account, PO messages are translated between Chinese and English automatically. See Automatic translation of messages.
#Emails
Emails sent to factories are always in both English and Chinese, whatever language you use in the portal. This includes invites and password links.
#Common questions
The portal is in the wrong language. Use the language switch in the top bar.
I switched language but a product description is still in English. That is expected. The switch translates the portal, not what the company typed. Ask the company in messages if something is unclear.
I switched computers and the language changed back. The choice is saved per computer. Switch it again on the new computer.
