Holds — pausing work on a PO

What it means when a PO is on hold, how to put a PO on hold yourself, and how a hold is released.

2 min read

A hold means stop producing. Either you or the company can put a PO on hold. A hold can cover the whole PO or only some of its lines. This article explains what to do in each case.

#The two hold statuses

Status What it means
On Hold The whole PO is paused. Stop all work on it.
Partial On Hold Only some lines are paused. Keep making the others.

For a partial hold, the PO shows a red banner: "On hold — do not produce these:", followed by the list of held products.

#When the company puts a PO on hold

The PO shows "On hold by the merchant".

  1. Stop work on the held products.
  2. If you do not know why, ask in the PO messages.
  3. Wait for the company to release the hold.

Only the company can release its own hold. When they do, the PO goes back to where it was, and you carry on.

#Putting a PO on hold yourself

  1. On the PO, press Put on hold…. It is in the header and in the ⋯ menu.
  2. Choose a Reason:
    • Unpaid deposit
    • Commercial dispute
    • Customer decision
    • Quality issue
    • Other
  3. Add a Note (optional) to explain.
  4. Confirm. The portal tells you: "Work will be paused and the merchant will be told."

#Releasing your hold

When you are ready to continue, press Release hold. You are asked "Release this hold and resume work?". Confirm, and work continues.

#Holds and your ETD

A hold does not change your ETD. If the hold delays you, save a new ETD when work starts again, so the company knows the new date. See Accepting a PO and what each status means.

#Common questions

Can I release the company's hold? No. Only they can. Ask them in messages.

Does a hold change my ETD? No. If the hold delays you, save a new ETD when work restarts.

Can I put a draft or closed PO on hold? No. You never see drafts, and closed POs are finished.
