Automatic translation of messages

If translation is switched on for your account, PO messages are translated between Chinese and English automatically. Here is how it works.

1 min read

If automatic translation is switched on for your account, PO messages between your factory and the company are translated Chinese ↔ English automatically, in both directions. There is no button to press. This article explains what you see and how to check a translation.

#When you write in Chinese

The company reads your message in English. The message box tells you this: "Type your message — the merchant reads it in English".

To check what the company received, press Show the English they see on your own message. This is worth doing before anything important.

#When the company writes in English

You see the Chinese translation on top, marked Auto-translated.

  • Press Show original to see exactly what they typed.
  • Press Hide original to hide it again.

#When nothing is translated

  • Same language on both sides. If you write in English to a company that reads English, nothing is translated. There is no note and no button.
  • Codes and short messages. PO numbers, product codes, sizes, quantities (for example "2XL x 40"), prices, dates and "OK" are not translated.

#Good to know

  • The original message is never changed.
  • The translation appears a second or two after the message arrives.
  • Translation is for PO messages only. Date requests, support tickets, notes and product descriptions are not translated.

Tip

Machine translation can get numbers and technical words wrong. Write short, clear sentences. Keep sizes, quantities and dates as numbers. Check the original for anything important.

#Common questions

A message was not translated. It was already in your language, or it was only codes or numbers, or translation was briefly unavailable. The message still arrived.

The translation looks wrong. Read the original, and ask the company to confirm the key figures.

Can I switch translation off for one message? No.
