Capacity planning

Set how many units your factory can make each week and see a 12-week plan of committed work against that capacity.

2 min read

The Capacity page shows how many units you have committed each week, against what your factory can make. It helps you see full or overloaded weeks before you accept more work.

Where: sidebar → Capacity.

Good to know

Only your factory sees this page. The companies you make for never see your capacity.

#Set your capacity

  1. Enter Units per week. This must be a whole number.
  2. Tick your Working days. Tick at least one.
  3. If you want, use Split by product (optional). Enter units per week for a Category or a Technique. The plan then shows each one too.
  4. Press Save capacity.

#The plan

#Tiles

  • This week
  • Next 4 weeks
  • Weeks over capacity
  • Waiting to accept — units on Submitted POs.
  • Overdue in production

#Weekly rows

There is one row per week for the next 12 weeks. Each row shows Committed vs capacity with a fill bar, and one of:

  • N free — you have room for N more units.
  • Full — no room left.
  • Over by N — you have committed N units more than your capacity.

#How units are counted

  • Committed means POs in production (and on hold). They are counted in the week of their ETD.
  • Submitted POs you have not accepted yet are shown separately as Waiting. They do not count yet.
  • A closure on a working day lowers that week's capacity. You see notes such as "Closed 2 of 5 days" or "Closed all week". See Calendar and closures.
  • The Overdue row shows POs whose ETD has already passed but which are still in production.

If Viewing is set to one company, you see that company's units against your whole capacity.

Tip

Before you accept new POs, look at Waiting to accept and the coming weeks. If accepting would put a week Over, set a later ETD or talk to the company first.

#Common questions

Capacity shows nothing. Set Units per week first.

Can the company see my capacity? No, never.

Why are my submitted POs not counted? Only accepted POs count as committed. Submitted POs show as Waiting.

A teammate cannot see Capacity. Their access was never set. Your owner or admin ticks the page for them on Team.
